You haven't said how you are browing your music library. Have you tried "Browse Artists > Various Artists" to see your compilation albums?
>Compilations: >(x) List compilation albums under each artist > Selecting this option will mean that all track artists (performers on compilation albums) will also be listed in the Browse Artists list. Normally the other option "Group compilation albums together" is chosen to stop a proliferation of artists that only appear on one song on a compilation appearing in the artists list.
