I agree. Same here. The wheel works with the (old?) firmware I can boot
with:

setenv kernelblock 580
setenv mtdset 1
boot

Once I set ethaddr (the one from the sticker) and serial# (some garbage
string in the right format) the "wrong uuid" notice didn't show up
again.

I don't think so. It erases the env block and u-boot falls back to the
default one. I did:

nande a 4096
(reset)
saveenv
boot

And the unit boots just fine, now again with the "wrong uuid" message.
And the wheel still doesn't work. I think that all other buttons work.

And sound doesn't work as well with a new firmware (7.4_r5580).

@SD: Is there any chance to get the unit usable / the wheel working?
