It's been mentioned before... why not start with separate "Plugin
Installer"  tab on the settings page that's "optionally" populated at
server startup and updated automatically at "optional" intervals. If a
new or updated plugin is available... flag the user by changing the
shade/color of the tab... or better yet... via a text message at the
bottom of the Web UI where the user is notified that a library scan is
in progress. Currently, one has to open the setting page, select the
plugins or advanced tab and select Extension Installer to see "if"
updates are available. I usually wait for posts in the 3rd party plugins
threads from developers before I navigate to the Extension Installer
page.
