Philip, I think this is a cracking suggestion. Having read the bug report though, question: how would SbS display albums with many year values but no ALBUMYEAR value in the album list assuming one has Settings > Interface > Show Year with Albums set to "Enabled"? In that scenario I'd want e.g. Hits of the 80s to show up under year of CD release.
