It could scare away some new users but it will also create a large number of existing customers that are committed to the product and recommends it to new users.
Who do you trust more when making the purchase decision ? An existing user who recommends the product or a Logitech sales representative ? There is a reason why people participating in these forums tends to stay here for years, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be the case if the development was handled in a closed environment. If we are talking about structured testing work, then you are correct. However, if we are talking about helping users with problems and questions, performing testing in various hardware and software environment and getting early feedback for new functionality, I believe Logitech gets a lot of help from these forums. This is probably not a section where a new user searches for help. If we want to do something regarding this, I think the best solution would be to just make it a bit more clear on what you can expect when running a beta release. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65677 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
