Yes, that is correct.

Would you? See, I wouldn't.

Counter Example:

I have three albums, all by Robert Fripp, all titled 'Exposure'.

One is a reissue of the original LP (released just a couple years ago
as CD, finally).

One is the first release of the CD (circa 1986 or so I think).

One is the 'third edition' release which has yet another set of tracks
on it.

Many of the tracks are the same across all three editions, however
sometimes a track sung by Peter Hammill has Daryl Hall singing, or other
lineup changes. (RCA complained about how many tracks Hall sang on,
saying he'd crossed too far from 'guest' into band member or some
such.)

I do not want all three lumped together, so they are each in their own
folder, which keeps them separate.

Basically the directory is used as a way to detect "two albums with the
same name. Admittedly the Exposure example is extreme: but I have
several albums named "MTV Acustico" and "Unplugged" and such... they
arent Various Artist albums, but if the directory rule changed, they
might very well be detected as huge VA releases.

Computers are dumb: they don't know how to sort things other than how
you tell it to sort. The 'group by directory' clause in the sort logic
solves a ton of problems in most cases. (The prior method meant the
user had to list all the "common album names" where they had two or more
distinct albums with the same name... which is not pleasant either and
needed more adjusting in more cases than the directory clause.)
