So you are suggesting to remove one piece of information (location on disk).. And somehow derive additional information in the process... I don't understand that. Your solution fails when browsing by Album if album art is included: would a VA album show 12 times, once for each artist? Or once but with artists listed alphabetically instead of by track order?
