>While I understand what you are saying, I would likely handle the >different releases by creating a different album title > As the snarlydwarf indicated, this is the "Greatest Hits" issue. For cases like that, it would be obvious that there could be clashes of album name, and thus when tagging the album, you could change the name to "Queen Greatest Hits" and "Squeeze Greatest Hits".
But that isn't always obvious. eg. I have album name clashes (same title, completely different artists, genre, etc), that I would not have thought about initially. eg. I have two albums called "2", two albums called "Blue", three albums called "Planets", etc. The correct thing to do is to assume that files in different folders are different albums. There is however a way to get the scanner to realise that tracks in different folders are part of the same album, and that is to add COMPILATION=0. Not sure if this is intentional, and whether it will always continue to work in the future, as it is a bit of a frig. The presence of a compilation tag tells the scanner to join the songs together, but setting the tag to 0 tells the scanner that it is not actually a compilation album. _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
