I think you choose a good ordering in two steps: first decide what things belong on the Home menu, and second, decide what order makes sense. The functionality for the first of these currently exists on all players, but the latter only exists on the older players (SB/SB2/SB3/Boom). And if you do it right (ie, in consultation with family members) they say "thank you" when things aren't the way they used to be.
I personally am not looking forward to my wife's reaction to the 7.4 menus on the SBC. She has gotten used to the older menus, and sees no reason for changing them. But they will change when I put 7.4 on our main server the day that SqueezeNetwork goes to 7.4, and also add the Touch and Radio to the main server. Being able to re-order the home menu would go a long way toward making the transition easier for a casual user.
