Also, is your library accessed on a network share? On that Settings > Advanced > Performance page there's also a setting for 'Network share detection interval'. Apparently, if your library resides on a network share SbS is going to launch a scan every X (default 10) minutes. I guess this is a new & changed type scan. I think this is only in effect if the automatic change detection is enabled.
