>I think there's one bit of logic that has changed in 7.6: If an album >has an ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists (or whatever string you have entered >in the setting for Various Artists name) then the album is now >considered a compilation, similar to tagging it with COMPILATION=1. >Prior to 7.6 if you set ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists then it was as if >you had created a new artist with then name "Various Artists". > Are you sure this has changed?
I had a look in the latest 7.6/trunk code and couldn't see any evidence of that. I just had a look at the code in 7.6, and couldn't see anything in the runScanPostProcessing section, nor could I find anything of interest when I looked for things that use the VariousArtistsString preference. I looked at the code where it usually detects compilations, and it looks much the same. I created a compilation album that had an album artist of "Various Artists" and no compilation tag. I tried switching my beta SBS server to latest 7.6/trunk to try it, but 7.6 has all kinds of issues for my current setup (unless I trash my settings file, switch to SQLite, remove 3rd party apps, it's not useable). So I added it to a USB memory stick, and loaded it on Tiny SBS that had the latest 7.6 firmware. I tried Browse Artists, and the album didn't appear within Various Artists. i.e. it wasn't detected as a compilation album. _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
