I had a look in the latest 7.6/trunk code and couldn't see any evidence of 
that.  I just had a look at the code in 7.6, and couldn't see anything in the 
runScanPostProcessing section, nor could I find anything of interest when I 
looked for things that use the VariousArtistsString preference.  I looked at 
the code where it usually detects compilations, and it looks much the same.

I created a compilation album that had an album artist of "Various Artists" and 
no compilation tag.

I tried switching my beta SBS server to latest 7.6/trunk to try it, but 7.6 has 
all kinds of issues for my current setup (unless I trash my settings file, 
switch to SQLite, remove 3rd party apps, it's not useable).

So I added it  to a USB memory stick, and loaded it on Tiny SBS that had the 
latest 7.6 firmware.  I tried Browse Artists, and the album didn't appear 
within Various Artists.  i.e. it wasn't detected as a compilation album.
