I agree that successfully routing UDP discovery packets should not be
necessary to let this work, but it could easily be something only ever
gets formally tested on a single LAN segment. What I mean is: a
regression in this functionality would probably not get caught by
Logitech.

I suspect that if you can't make it work by forwarding all the usual
ports, you have uncovered a bug. 

It is hard to know for sure, though, because lots of ports probably get
blocked in a typical public hotspot. VPN may be the only solution, then.
