I don't think current playlists are available in the database anymore,
so I believe they need to be saved just to be able to survive a server
restart. They were in the database earlier, but for some reason they
were removed from the database and replaced with clientplaylist_*.m3u
files in the prefs directory. I think they were removed from database
in 7.4 or 7.5 but I'm not completely sure.

So, I don't think the actual playlists are scanned into the database,
you don't see them in the "Playlists" menu, do you ?

However, their contents are probably scanned. I would expect them to be
scanned when the specific player a clientplaylist is related to connects
to the server. Do you have clientplaylist files related to players you
no longer have or are they related to the currently used players ?

Just clearing the playlists on all players through the user interface
will probably empty these clientplaylist files and get rid of the
problem.

As a side note, I have a very hard time to understand why SBS insist on
using other storage mechanisms than the database when we have a real
database which has been built for handling this kind of information.
Feels like this kind of information would be a lot better to store in
the database but I'm probably missing something obvious.
