i refuse to tag or not one way or the other based on something stupid
SBS does.

if we all agree it is stupid for the SP NP screens to display "AA, A,
Title," then the answer is obvious, FIX THE BUG!

what we shouldn't do, is have to cast spells via trial and error over a
tagging black cauldron, to try to find some magical 'one size, one
approach, one scheme only' fits all solution.

something kind of lost in this discussion is that people do use other
programs besides SBS. i believe that tagging everything with AA tags
is the best way to get a common exp across all apps, and you can then
go the extra step of adding comp=1 tags if u want to without harming
anything.

something else thats kind of lost in this discussion is the stupidity
of SBS itself. i should be able to browse by AA or A on the fly,
without changing options and rescanning. thats a toggle for display,
nothing more. but SBS makes that impossible. in the same vein, i
should be able to specify how i want the NP display, on any device or
UI, to work. for instance, when i rip a CD, i can rip it as single
artist:

%D\%C\%A - %N - %T

or VA:

%D\%C\%C - %N - %A - %T

via a single simple toggle. SBS should allow the same kind of user
defined formatting for denoting and displaying on the UI's.

these problems are only going to get worse, as long as SBS tries to
outsmart its users and force everything into a "single master list" and
also without giving users the power to control how/whats displayed.
