There is a difference/something to bear in mind.

Obviously album.contributor can only have one artist. However, it is possible
for an album to have more than one album artist.

eg. an album by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, where there is one guest performer
on one song. Therefore most songs would have Album Artist = Jimmy Page; Album
Artist=Robert Plant.

So the only safe way to capture a list of all album artists, is to use album
artist contributor roles link table.

Of course - there's nothing wrong with the database schema as it is reflecting
reality. The debate is how people envisage browsing the music library. Some
people want a single flat list and think of one-to-one relationships between
artists and albums, whereas others quite like hierarchical structures that work
with one-to-many relationships.

I thought there already was one. I certainly found it really easy to set up an
"All Artists" menu, and one that matched the SBS "Browse Artists" menu.

>As far as I can see, the contents really looks the same as the standard
>Artists menu with "Group compilation albums together" option enabled.
>The only difference I can see is that "Various Artists" is sorted under

I created a "Browse Compilations" menu. I could share that as a custom browse
menu. e.g. I have:

Browse Artists/
        Artists
        All Artists
        New Artists
Browse Albums/
        Albums
        Compilations
        New Albums
        Random Albums
