Running an install with an obsolete version can never be guaranteed
trouble free (even if I agree there is a probability of 99% you will
have no problem, but it is the 1% remaining that matters).
I looked for a zip containing binaries 5.10 for windows, it didn't find
one.
I only found msi files.
I consider it took me too much time already.

When I am in charge of a development, I don't accept such tweaks from
people working with me, when it is so obvious that such an
incompatibility is the source for potential problems.

You are right, if I think it is too complicated, I can forget about
that.
The problem is that I see too many non geek users trying to use a
Touch, finally put it on sale, and then forget about it.
I am sorry about that.

if you have a zip somewhere with the content of perl 5.10 install
directory, I will take some time to try it.
I won't run an install
