A couple of observations:
During the initial scan, if I attempt to do anything in the web ui on
the browsing side, I see a 'database locked' message for the artwork
cache in the logs and the scanner hangs. (I'm not sure that I ever
tested this in 7.6.)
During a clear/rescan, doing an 'abort scan' from the web UI fails to
kill the scanner process.
A new & changed scan immediately crashes the server.
