Erlands point about IR key jump shortcuts (and also web UI alphabar) would
function according to the selected sort mode, so if sorted by album title, the
list would function as seen today. If "Contributor" sort option chosen, IR key
jumps would jump to involvement groupings, maybe 1 for the top group of regular
albums, "2" for appearances as composer, conductor or band, and "3" for
compilation appearances?

Perhaps a long-touch on 0 key would jump to next contributor "group/section".

Or just not bother with key shortcuts in this sort mode at all.

As an alternative idea, how about pre-pending the contribution type with the
album name. Don't bother labelling for regular albums (or whatever contributor
role mode you were browsing the artist for). Would naturally sort reasonably
if considered part of the album name, so you might see something like:

Peter Gabriel:
        Scratch
        Security
        So
        Up
        {Compilation} Big Blue Ball

Tori Amos:
        Little Earthquakes (1992)
        Under The Pink (1994)
{Compilation} The Very Best Of MTV Unplugged Volume 2 (2003) by Various
Artists
{Guest} 10 Years In The Life Anthology (2002) by BT
{Guest} Here Liest Love (2010) by David Byrne

Here I also marked up with {Compilation} instead of {Guest} for a compilation
album - would need to pull in compilation tag instead of role=track artist to
tell the difference; this would be gold plating ;-)
