>Ah, f#ck. Here we go again... > Have we discussed this before, I can't remember?
>When the additional browse Album Artists pref is enabled, neither >artist list contains the VA. > I'm not seeing this problem. In the "All Artists" list, I see "Various Artists" (sorted under V, not at the top of the list), that contains the majority of my compilation albums. My compilation albums are tagged with COMPILATION=1, and most do not have an Album Artist=Various Artists tag. Note 1: This "Various Artists" content is NOT correct, in that it is not listing only albums by album artist=Various Artists. It includes "No Album", that does not have an album artist "Various Artists". I suspect this is actually listing all compilation albums irrespective of who the album artist is set to, like the old special-case Various Artists entry. Note 2: I don't really understand why this is so hard to comprehend - the list should just be a list of artists that have at least one normal album, and for a chosen artist in this list the list of albums should be any album that the chosen artist has involvement on. "Various Artists" in this list shouldn't have any special treatment? >Without using the plugin to add a browse >Compilations to the My Music menu, it means that there isn't one place >to browse compilations by the VA. > In most cases, people will have all compilations listed under "Various Artists", which will appear in the "All Artists" list (and should be in Album Artists list too - bug). It is true that not every compilation may be by "Various Artists", and therefore not all compilation albums would be listed under one artist, but I'd say that would be the intention. Hence the new Compilations list, which should show a list of all compilation albums, irrespective of the album artist. My All Artists > Various Artists contains 221 albums, exactly the same number as Compilations list. _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
