In all likelihood just for consistency (albums, tracks, genres, images, videos) and perhaps "future use". There are more than a few examples of columns in the database that aren't used. > Assuming that you need to do a frig to make genre sorting work how you > like, why don't you store the genre name correctly in your files, and > change your script to find genre "Medieval", and change namesort to > "a_Medieval"? That's less likely to have an adverse effect on the app, > and allows genre to be presented correctly in all applications. IIRC, it's those other applications that are the reason he does this. He'd rather have the genres sorted as desired in those applications. And they're close enough to being "correct" that they're usable. Not sure it would make any difference when LMS makes the assumption that they're the same and then goes on to use the wrong column for sorting. It should be using the genres.namesort column for all genre sorting. If the scan is populating it correctly, same as it does for albums, tracks, etc. I don't see why it -wouldn't- use it for sorting. Yes, support for a GENRESORT tag makes a lot of sense to me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102190 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
