I'm close to certain that the problem is as I tried to explain in my first post. There is no recognition of ConductorSort tags in LMS (which I accept as OK), but as a result a perfectly good AlbumArtistSort tag is either not being recognised (because namesort is already set - wrongly), or when a Conductor tag is seen the (good) namesort is overwritten. I have determined I can get round most of this using CustomScan and CustomBrowse. It's a fair bit of work, and longer scans and slower menus may result, but it's all I can do for now. To make the standard menus work for Album Artists (or indeed Conductors with the LMS 7.9 Additional Browse Modes) I'll have to determine all candidates for PostScan, which could take me a long time. I may have to do it for every possible conductor (385 at the last count), since there seems to be an element of randomness going on (I assume due to the order tags are detected?) in which contributors are affected. That in turn begins to become overwhelming impractical, since my method of forming the sorted versions of names uses complex regexs in puddletag (or mp3tag) that took me a long time to work out (I'm not very quick....). LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. LMS & Squeeze2upnp to MF M1 CLiC (to MF amp & ESLs) & Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Minimserver (server) & upplay (control point) to same renderers & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to speakers/phones. Wireless Xubuntu 14.04 laptop with firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
