There's an option at Settings > My Music > Filter Contributor Roles. I think if you set it to "Show all albums and tracks for an artist" you'll see the first behavior in both instances. But yes, there does appear to be a bug. The compilation albums should not appear for artists with a TRACKARTIST role when browsing Album Artists with the option set to "Only show tracks or albums matching the selected role for an artist". If you're not going to list albums where the contributor has a TRACKARTIST role, then the compilations should not be listed. I have a feeling, though, that an attempt to fix this might also suppress compilation albums where the artist _does_ appear as an album artist. Something to watch out for.
