Looks like artist picture lookup and building full text index is taking
the longest. Why do these take so long just for new and changed or
playlist rescan?
Make sure Album & Artist Info does have a writable folder for the artist
images. Otherwise it might look up the same artists over and over again.
This might also happen if you had lots of artists for which it doesn't
find any images on last.fm. There's also an option to only download
artwork for the "main artists" (I would assume that's the album artists
- didn't check the code :-)).
As for the fulltext index: that's slow. What kind of hardware are you
using? You're still on some Windows server, I guess? You could enable
debugging for plugin.fulltext to get more information about where it's
spending so much time. Do you have a large number of playlists? IIRC
they are relatively slow.
