Checked the log console and found nothing under "install", "logit",
"media", BUT found one entry under "squeeze" which would correspond to
the time I just saw the "do you want to install..." notice. Hope this
means something to you:

Unfortunately this has nothing to do with the installer, but is a
message logged by the preference pane itself. (and which I forgot to
disable years ago...)
Under Security/Apps download, I changed my setting from Mac app and
identified developers to "anywhere". We'll see what that does next time
around. I'll let you know.
