Campbell, any chance the auto color could do a bare minimal hue shift on an odd degree?
The idea being that by default, the wire mesh for ObjA would be N color, ObjB would be N+11°, ObjC would be N+22° etc. The degree shift if calculated decently should allow for several rolls around the spectrum before a color is replicated. It might make for the first N objects being uniquely colored before an artist needs to begin setting unique colors manually.
