Good idea!

What about multiple .bib entries linking to the same file?
I.e. you have a PDF of a whole journal or something similar and want to 
keep the complete PDF instead of 12 seperate articles from this item.
Having this kind of functionality would be consistent with crossref'ed 
items, e.g. 10 bibliographically different texts in one incollection 
entry. Then, the incollection (parent) entry could link to the complete 
PDF, and all child entries could inherit the same link.

One other instance where having several entries pointing at the same 
file would be figures or the like that they have in common (or one gives 
a picture of the other). Then, you could also find stuff like "which 
books show a picture of the title page of the first edition of C.M. 
Wieland's Aristipp" (and if this is referenced in the bib file, of 
course you already had access to this edition's metadata).

Maybe my thoughts are a little crude, but at least I'm thinking…
