Hi George, Check the axle spacing on those wheels from long ago. The outer locknut dimension might be too small. >From Surly: "Our Gnot-rite spacing (132.5mm) allows you to run 130mm road hubs and 135mm MTB hubs" http://surlybikes.com/travelerscheck.html I'd ask here if axle-replacement (longer) and adding spacers is possible and/or recommended. Anyway... you'll have a fun travel bike.
