Really sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident. I hope that you
have a speedy and complete recovery. I was involved in what sounds
like a similar incident on October 10th. Struck by an oncoming car
turning left . I am without my previously reliable commuter as well.

I live in the Minneapolis, MN vicinity and was a year-round commuter.
I have worn through several sets of brake pads and used up a set of
rims last year. I’ve gotten by with a fixed gear bike for the
simplicity of drive train maintenance. For much of the year, it is
dark on my early morning commute. From late fall through early spring
it is also dark for my evening commute. I have used a dynamo powered
LED headlight (IQ Fly) from Peter White Cycles. I am fine using
battery powered tail lights.

The ultimate commuter replacement for me will have accommodations for
lights, disk brakes, and internally geared drive train. I would
likely only run the internal during the winter months for those days
when an additional gear would be handy for getting through snow. The
Tout Terrain looks like an awesome commuter! My personal challenge is
that it must have drop style handlebars.
