We, as a group of Bihari professionals, had conducted a
workshop<http://www.slide.com/r/nNANKUjryj8nQGxkORkf6dO851tPF34y?previous_view=191>on
management, engineering, open source software & Linux apps, among other
topics at B.N collage a few years back. It was helpful to many who attended
the workshop.

This year, we have plans to hold a 'mobile' workshop on Linux based apps IT
awareness & use of open source in 4-5 centers in Bihar. Some members are
coming to Patna in May for the same.

While working for flood relief, Guneshwar, a P.hd student from Ahmedabad,
had suggested this approach late last year..& we have been planning it in
bits & pieces and trying to shape this into a workable framework.

And now, after reading the post on Linux in TN by google..it elevates our
plan to a higher level :);

We had planned at least four workshops/exposure visits outside Patna like
Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samstipur ; one day at each city,
introduction to open source, distribution of Linux distros & burn on demand
O.S.Softwares..& most importantly..try to invoke interest for Linux & help
form a basic small group of Linux users out here.

There has been a lot of development in open source, installation is a breeze
& these OS are very stable, have cross platform compatibility & sleek
graphical interface...there are 100's of really good free open source
Linux<http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3255930>
.

Thanks to you, we now have a successful template on which we can base this
initiative:)

Hopefully, more members will join in, & we can brainstorm the best practical
approach to this initiative.

Am copying this mail to Samir Mishra & Guneshwar Anand, both experianced
users of Linux & committed to this cause. Samir (Based in Australia) may not
be here in May, but I hope he will help the students in post workshop
interactive in conducting Skype

Thanks & regards,

I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can't make it through one
door, I'll go through another door - or I'll make a door. Something terrific
will come no matter how dark the present. - Rabindranath Tagore
