At the west end of Main street, the detour takes you on the path between the apartments and Brittingham Park to the sidewalk along West Washington Ave. I'm not sure exactly how to get back to West Shore Drive from there; I take the sidewalk to the corner of W. Washington and Vilas, where I cross Park Street with the signal. It's a bit hairy-scary getting back on the north side of Vilas to continue my trip westward (I prefer not to bike on Park Street to Drake).
