Seriously, though.  Since I was mostly rural, I usually ended up on the bus.  I also 
lived near 
I school I could walk to.  Once in a while in high school my Mom would drop me off or 
pick 
me up at school.  

As a contrast, I had some cousins in another town who were about the same age.  They 
refused to ride the bus, so their parents drove them to school until they were old 
enough to 
drive.  (Giving in to every child's whim is another topic for another day, but it 
applies...)

What I don't remember is this vicious drive to be somewhere, do something, get GOING 
all 
of the time.  So many people are angry and in a hurry.  And if you are going to drop 
your kid 
from a moving vehicle, get a pet rock instead of adding to an already overloaded 
planet!

And shut off that yammering boob tube.
