Facility Managers,

Beginning Monday June 2, 2003, Dayton Street west bound will be closed from Broom to Randall to facilitate striping and sign removal and replacement for the impending June 9 detour of all east bound Johnson Street traffic onto a one-way east Dayton Street. In essence, Dayton will be converted to one-way east bound beginning June 2, 2003, from Randall to Broom. This means that any and all west bound bike traffic on this portion of Dayton will also be closed. Bikers are urged to use the designated detour for west bound bikes set up for the Johnson Street project. This detour will last as scheduled until the middle of October. See the city website for more detailed information. <http://www.ci.madison.wi.us/engineering/w_johnson.htm>http://www.ci.madison.wi.us/engineering/w_johnson.htm

Also, most of the temporary signals at the intersection have been installed on Dayton and might be operational as early as next week. If not, they are scheduled to be active for sure beginning June 9. Be extra cautious the first time you negotiate Dayton during the detour so you don't accidently run a stop light. Thanks.
