So, what's "appreciated" by people sleeping in is more important than safety? This is
an
utter red herring. Okay, I've never measured the following with a decibel meter, but
they're in the ball park:
Sound level of human yelling "CLEAR" = n
approx. = sound of car engine revving up from a stop
x 10 = sound of car horn, or diesel engine truck revving up from a stop, or a
two-cycle
mower engine
x 10 again = sound of Harley revving up from a stop

Given time, I can think of a score things happening within a block of my house that I
don't "appreciate". I don't "appreciate" the use of lawn chemicals by those
sleepers-in.
I don't "appreciate" the burden they choose to put on this planet by breeding. I don't
"appreciate" their resource consumption. In another reich, these might all be banned.

As has been said, yes, the debate should be civil. But it should also be topical and
reasonable, and expect the same of those on the "other" side of the issue.
