That's three deaths on the east side in a very short period of time.  The last one was a pedestrian killed at a crosswalk at Vernon and Cottage Grove Road.  My husband and I (and others) have been avoiding biking along there since then.

The area where the pedestrian was killed is out past I 90, where there has been a lot of development. It doesn't strike me as particularly pedestrian friendly.

It sure seems that rain greatly increases a pedestrian or bicyclist's chances of being injured or killed.

Last night a 53 year old (male, I think) was killed on bicycle at Union and
E Washington. At nearly the same moment, a 21 year old female pedestrian
was killed on Milwaukee Street. It was around 8:30pm when it was raining
pretty good.
