Yeah, I saw that too.
A six year old with parents. I'm trying to imagine this situation. Did the kid run out into the street ahead of the parents? Did the kid not run fast enough across the street, but the parents made it? Were the parents and kid not crossing together? Or were the parents hit as well, but lived?
Really tragic.
I have to say that I am sick and tired of seeing kids, adults, young, old, poor, rich, and everyone in between die on or crossing our roads.
Drunk driving, speeding, and inattentive driving are huge menaces in our society. The other factor is simply the assumption by drivers that there will be no bicyclists or pedestrians anywhere near the roadway, so we don't have to watch out for or yield to them. This would fall under inattentive driving, in my mind. I am willing to bet that one of these is involved in close to 100% of fatalities involving a motor vehicle.
That's why they are called "crashes" and not "accidents." They could have been prevented.
In a foul mood because of the election....
