I rekon I need to heed the suggestion of STUDDED tires, still... the condition of the commuter path thru campus (from around the W. Washington up to the Park St Over pass, and ESPECIALLY down from the overpass to Brooks St and on thru is treacherous. I went down (slow motion wipe onto my butt... no harm done), but it was nearly impossible to even walk that incline down. I realize the city is about out of $$ for weinter cleanup, but it seems the UW might be concerned as well as thousands of students walk this stretch as well. A little sand might be a nice touch.
For now, I'm taking Regent from Monroe to Main St to avoid that stretch. On the other hand, the SW path (at least out to Glenway) is just tamped down crusty snow and easy to navigate. Sections of the path from North Shore out to Brearly are chippy but not too bad. do any of the shops have Studded tires on sale?
