I haven't read all the discussion on this...so if someone already said this, 
I'm sorry to repeat.

One problem with the idea of changing stop to yield as a way to make motorists 
not get mad at us is...motorists don't keep up with changes in bike laws.  Most 
people still think it is illegal to ride two abreast in Wisconsin, which got 
changed years ago.  You'd have to do a huge cultural education campaign to get 
the majority of motorists in Wisconsin to learn that stop was changed to yield 
for bikes.  And then many of them would still hate us for having "special 
rights".  For that matter, communicating the change to bicyclists would also be 
difficult.  So you'd get some people stopping and some not stopping.

I'm not saying it should not be done...but I guess I have no faith that it will 
change the attitude of motorists towards bicyclists.  Maybe 20 or 30 years down 
the road...but not any time soon.
