Since I live next to Glenway golf course and the cemetery, I can
categorically tell you that there is no short cut unless you are on foot.
There are a few unofficial dog walking paths through the woods, but no bike
path unless you are mashing on a mountain bike (which I have also seen,
teenagers).

The bike path that diverts south from the intersection of Mineral Point /
Speedway / Glenway St. is probably your best bet if you don't like the
winding cemetery road.

The controlled signal lights at this intersection need to be adjusted for
pedestrian (and bicycle) crossing however. I submitted that request to the
Capital Projects Budget suggestion list last year. As they currently
operate, peds can't even SEE the green lights and there are cross walks on
only two of the four crossings. Mineral Point to Speedway is aptly named and
there is minimal enforcement and poor sight lines. It is very difficult to
cross here.

The route I was hoping for would go straight west through the cemetery
or northern edge of the golf course, connecting right about where the
Virginia Terrace entrance onto the SW path is. I know, I know, it's
not a huge diversion to hook north to Regent or hook south to the
Glenway entrance -- just that when you're doing it regularly for a
commute you look for ways to cut off a few minutes. :-)
