Much as I see the irony in doing so, I would like to point out that what John sent out was *one email*. Even an email which could be considered clearly off-topic is still only one, single email which can be easily ignored, or quickly skimmed and deleted. Yet suddenly we have a growing number of emails in our in-boxes which are about the original email but don't exactly pertain to it. Frankly, I've always found the "not on my listserv" emails to be more of an annoyance, and an inbox-killer, than the initial emails that sparked their ire, or in this case, moderate concern. Of course, I'm sort of contributing to my annoyance here...
