Mike Rewey and Amanda White, nice to meet you at the Tenney Lapham neighborhood Bike Boulevard meeting last night. There were about 25 people present and there was pretty much unanimous support for East Mifflin being designated a Bike Boulevard from Dickinson to the square. TE is not interested in doing diversions or changing any stop signs so to start with, it will be a Bike Boulevard in name only. There will be signage first, followed by sharrows, and then a link on the 100 block that will allow bikes to go the wrong way down that one way section just off the square. It is hoped and desired that some marketing will be done to attract more bikes to this stretch. TE hopes that with increased bike traffic, this will discourage autos. Not sure I buy into that argument, but what the heck. Personally, I was hoping for at least a trial with diverters and changes to the stop sign configurations. The neighborhood will likely push for these anyway so maybe something will happen in the future. Bridget Maniaci, our new alder, volunteered to go knocking on doors to get the word out. I think I will hold her to that. Thanks Amanda for volunteering some effort by the Bike Federation to start gathering some use statistics.

Regards,
David Waugh
Vice President, Tenney Lapham Neighborhood Association
