First, "dangerising" is a word now?
Personally, I wore a helmet for close to 15 years before one did anything for
me. But on that occasion it absolutely saved me a trip to the hospital and
possibly long-range concussion effects. I fell sideways and the SOUND of the
helmet hitting the pavement left my left ear ringing for days.
I do not favor legally mandatory bike helmets mostly because I think it would
be ineffective. They are definitely mandatory in my family. When my kids see
someone biking without a helmet and ask why they're allowed to, I tell them
"That person's parents didn't really want kids." They're still not sure if I'm
joking or not.
