I STILL think that across bike path routes AND heavy pedestrian sites the
lights should trip automatically to "Walk"...just sayin

If we are truly respecting the modes, then they should get their acknowledged
turn in the system and the auto drivers, of which I am one, would be constantly
reminded to look for them with the lights rotating.

I'll bet in amsterdam and germany they get the walk! (And yes, I'm jealous..I
would have LOVED to go on that trip!)

I was thinking maybe an air hose signal like they used at gas stations to make
the bell ring. but a really loud bell so the people driving with their radios
and cell phones on can hear. ;-P
Or maybe a foot switch by the pavement. But no, that would mean the highwaymen
who built the crosswalk would have to admit that bicycles are viable
transports. They put the switch out of reach to watch the cyclists bend over to
stop traffic.

OK, I'm done being sarcastic.

or did they think to put a signal tripper between the regular path and John No
Lane?

The John Nolen bike path rebuild looks like it will be a huge improvement over
what we've had for years, and many thanks to the folks that made this happen.

Okay, except, does anyone know why the walk signal button at the North Shore
crossing (which must be pressed if one expects to get the appropriate crossing
signal) is now more than arm's length from the pavement?

Options as this is currently configured appear to be to either:

1. ride through the mud (or whatever turf gets planted there, shortly to become
mud), or
2. dismount to get close enough to push the button.

Are there plans to put the button on an extension from the pole so it can be
reached from the path, similar to the one on eastbound Wilson at Blount? Maybe
a little more pavement?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Michael
