Hi Margie: I'm a recumbent rider; mostly I ride roads. I have seen some You Tube video of recumbent riders on trails. If I remember, they are mostly the short wheelbase type, which would turn and maneuver better. Also, they need wide tires, and probably smaller wheels overall, again for turning. A few recumbents have built in shocks - the Cannondale used to but as it is no longer made you could only get it used. For used recumbents the best site I've seen is hostelshoppe.com in Steven's Point. Hope this helps. Dave of Madison
