if by "cap city path," you mean the east rail corridor path (the one that crosses the river by mickey's bar), you could mostly use bike paths by going east on the bike path (crossing Atwood at Dunning), turning left on Waubesa and right onto the Wirth Ct. path, which turns into St. Paul. When the street goes left, look for a right that goes through Greenway Dixon. At Milwaukee St., you'll be on the Starkweather Creek path, which will take over the two new bridges to the Aberg path. then turn left, cross at the light on ShopKo Drive, go under Packers and get on Aberg, turn right on Loftsgordon, turn left on any of the next several streets, and go to Ruskin. Then turn left on Schlimgen/McPherson (changes names crossing Sherman), turn right at the first street, go down the hill and you're at the south end of Warner Park.
That's sort of out of the way. What I'd do is go on the Thornton St. path (follows the west side of the river) until you get to Sherman, turn left on Warner Dr. at Burrows Park, jog around until you get on Kensington, turn right on Oxford Place, turn left onto Sherman (be careful crossing the tracks). You can stay on Sherman until you get to Warner Park, or if you don't like Sherman (it's VERY bike-unfriendly), you can go just a few blocks on Sherman, turn right on Aberg, turn right on Ruskin, and get there that way. Depending on where you're going in Warner Park, you can stay on ruskin until it ends at Elka, go left and then left again on windom way, and you're pretty close to warner. You might want to complain to your alder and to Alder Rhodes-Conway that we desperately need bike lanes on Sherman. You could also get to winnebago from where you're starting, and keep going until the roundabout by 6th St., then go north on 6th, until it ends at Pennsylvania (just past Packers), turn right and go down to commercial, or cut through the parking lot at the MATC tech center, then ride through the oscar mayer parking lot (warning: two speed bumps--stay way on the right to miss them) to Aberg, and follow the directions from the first paragraph from there.
