Ooo! Must have touched a nerve there! So, what makes you think you're so
special that you can avoid paying for the space you use?

Mr. Jordan; If U think even jokingly that it would be both civilly and
justifiable  IE ( politically correct ) for bicyclist to pay parking meter
rates of any sort or amount . you need to have your head examined. PS ; also if
any of the " elitist" in Madison think someway they can influence the political
winds of change to regulate bicycling to/for just the few/select, with or
without the aid of public " taxpayer" funding",.....................you may be
playing with fire........have a nice day

If the city was smart, they would leave the meters intact and operable so that
civic-minded bicyclists would pay a token amount to park there just to
demonstrate to the miffed automobilists that cycists are putting in a (cough)
their fair share. I suppose you're going to ask me what I think a "fair share"
is and whether there is a significant portion of bicyclists who consider
themselves as "civic-minded." My excuse is that it's too bloody early in the
morning to figure the details but
it sounded good at the time.

When Seattle switched from parking meters to a printed-ticket system, cyclists
lost the majority of ad-hoc opportunities to secure their rides. Chicago hasn't
made that mistake.
