Madison Bike Winter would like to encourage commuters in and around Madison to
consider bicycling to work on a winter day.

Many residents in the Madison area choose to bike commute to work during the
warmer weather months. Our winter weather causes many bike commuters to choose
other modes of transportation, mostly due to a perception that the conditions
are either difficult or impossible to safely bike in.

Biking in the winter is however, not often too difficult and is quite easily
accomplished with some extra preparation and with the right gear, mostly
clothing. That is why Madison Bike Winter is here in our area, to encourage
fair-weather bicyclists to continue to ride through our winters and provide
encouragement and resources to do so.

To help aid people in giving winter biking a chance, Madison Bike Winter
presents Madison's 1st Winter Bike To Work Day (WBTWD) on Thursday, March 3,
2011. By March 3, winter conditions should be even more pleasant than usual and
should give people willing to try winter biking an opportunity to try their
current biking gear out to see what they may or may not need to bike during
harsher winter weather.

An encouragement for people to bike to work on Thursday, March 3, are FREE
coffee at Barriques locations, specials at Cargo and Ground Zero Coffees,
discounts at Williamson Bicycle Works, and a final celebration at Brocach Irish
Pub. All are welcome to join the celebration at Brocach.

Prior to the WBTWD, Williamson Bicycle Works will be holding tire repair
clinics
at their West Washington location on Wednesday, February 23, and Wednesday,
March 2, both at 7:30 PM. See Madison Bike Winter's Facebook page for other
workshops or clinics prior to the WBTWD.

Please see www.facebook.com/madbikewinter to RSVP and to find out more
information on the Winter Bike To Work Day. Give winter biking a try on
Thursday, March 3!
