The trail is not generally on the railroad corridor. WDNR has acquired
lands/easements adjacent to the rail corridor. I understand that a drawing
is being prepared to better describe the route. There is a graphic to
describe the City's route from Wagon Trail to Buckeye. Although this route
is on existing city lands or local streets, some of the route at the west
end will have to acquired from existing residential properties.

I expect that there will be public information meetings this year to better
describe the route and the environmental issues. Chris James is the project
manager for the County and Tony Fernandez is the project manager for the
City.

And, yes Tim, WDNR intends to charge trail fees. It's a modest charge for a
great service.

Subject: Re: [Bikies] Capital City Trail to Cottage Grove

Wasn't the Union Pacific RR the reason the section between Cottage Grove Rd.
and Buckeye was never completed--some refusal to give permission or
something like that? Why can it proceed from Buckeye to Cottage Grove
(village, not road)?

Can we make sure that this bike path is a free route and not part of the
DNR's toll road for (non-polluting) bicycles? What could make that happen?

Looks like both are planned on being paved.
