I am so excited about this location, because this is my way into downtown,
and the "right hook" is one of my great fears at this location. A very high
percentage of the eastbound traffic on Dayton is turning right onto Park St.
When we are both stopped, I often inch up to remind drivers not to turn in
front of another vehicle - which is what a right turn in front of a
bicyclist is, and it's illegal. If I get to the intersection first, I
position myself in the middle of the right lane - as if there was already a
bike box - to keep from getting hooked when the light turns green.

Of course, the bike boxes won't help prevent other bicyclists from running
the red light. For anyone that isn't familiar with this intersection, the
left turn lane sometimes gets an exclusive green before the straight-through
traffic, and bicyclists running a red when Park St traffic stops can get
nailed, assuming the left-turners will yield.
