I use Segoe a lot...and primarily because south of Mineral point the curb lane
is very nice and wide.....have never had an issue with cars as a result. In a
time of competing priorities for funding...I'd vote for instituting a
repainting line item for existing bike lanes, especially in very dangerous
areas...primary example to me is Seminole south of the arb...hard to tell if
those lanes ever existed now..its been years since they've been repainted it
seems...and with the curves, high speeds and grades there's major danger there.
I'd rather see the funds in this instance used for maintenance...and to
consider using some of the funds for Sherman Avenue or other intense stretches
with issues.

Growing bike lanes is great...but maintaining what we have is important too.

Meanwhile, whatever happened to construction planning for cycling routes?  The
endless projects around Lake and Gilman...without seemingly any accommodation
is short sighted.

There's already a bike lane stub that begins just before the Segoe-Mineral
Point intersection, and whether you can make a safe right on red is a function
of the traffic, which is often heavy.  There's some danger of a right-hook, but
_most_ drivers I've encountered seem aware of the problem.
Even so, I wouldn't do it.  I find that stretch of Mineral Point so miserable
for bike riding, and the Mineral Point-Midvale intersection so unfriendly (on
Mineral Point) that I'd sturn right on Keating and take that eastbound.  Even
though there's no light at the Keating-Midvale intersection, it feels more bike
friendly (to me) than the Mineral Point - Midvale intersection.
(Note: I have not had any problems making right turns  from the bike lane on
Segoe north of MPRd - presumably the model for the proposed bike lanes south of
MPRd)
