I'll chime in again.  I think having one consistent color is great.  Green
is fine.  And it goes without saying that the green-filled lanes/boxes/areas
need to be accompanied by painted bike symbols, white lines, white-lined
buffer zones where appropriate, and appropriate signage.

Once we get used to green bike lanes and bike-crossing areas in
intersections I think we'll really appreciate them for the contrast that
they offer.

Of course, come winter, many bike lanes will be slush-colored again.  We
can't paint Mother Nature.
